How to Create a Bill of Sale Template for a Vehicle, Boat or RV.
A Bill of Sale is a form used to document the sale and help you transfer ownership of a motor vehicle.
You will need a bill of sale template in order to register a used car, motorcycle, atv, recreational vehicle (RV), powerboat, jet ski or even a horse.
This document is required in order to apply for an original vehicle registration/title in most states of the US.
When buying a vehicle from an authorized dealer, the dealer usually submits your vehicle registration and title certificate application for the buyer.
Information needed on a Bill of Sale Form:
The date of the sale
The sales price.
Buyer and seller's names and addresses.
The vehicle's year, make, model, body type and VIN (vehicle identification number)
Both parties' signatures
Odometer reading(at time of sale)
Damage disclosure statement
Notary public seal (to id the seller and his/her signature)
DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO REGISTER A VEHICLE WITH THE DMV:
Proof of vehicle ownership
Proof of identity and date of birth of the registrant
Bill of Sale
Vehicle Registration/Title Application
Proof liability insurance
State's emissions standard (Smog Test)
Purchase/selling price (fees and taxes will be calculated at the dmv based on the blue book value of the vehicle) or
Proof sales tax payment, exemption or purchase price
